Just some of the ways to help us raise funds are listed below...

New Years Day Swim 1st Jan 2018

Thanks to all who braved the elements on New Years Day to take a dip in aid of the Lifeboat. Organised by crewman Peter Nunan, about 50 participants took to the water in a right chilly wind at the beach in front of the Hotel. The ALB Sir Fredrick Storey Cockburn stood by with the EA16 on patrol near the shore.

Santa and Madam Clause come to town.

Both Santa and Madam Clause arrived by vintage car to the Golden Pheasant to meet all the little people around Courtmacsherry on Dec 16th. The event  organised by Carmel Alan & Michael Kiely at the Golden Pheasant Cafe & Craft Shop raised €700 for the lifeboat. Many thanks to all!

Great Wild Atlantic Marathon Walk

A very pleasant night was held on the 25th November when the organizers of the Great Wild Atlantic Marathon Walk around the picturesque Seven Heads Peninsula presented a cheque of over €7000 to Courtmacsherry RNLI Lifeboat Station. A big thank you to the members of Barryroe GAA and Courtmacsherry Lifeboat Station who joined forces to run the event. Over 300 walkers took part on one of the sunniest days of the Summer. The most frequent (actually the only) response from the walkers was "spectacular views" , "brilliantly organized" and "wonderful support" . Some found the return down Cuckoo Hill challenging, and no doubt plenty of pains and aches followed!.

All we can do is offer our sincere thanks to the participants, and hearty congratulations to all who finished the full Marathon.  To The Seven Heads Coastguard unit, to the farmers, & householders along the way a big thank you for work put in preparation for the walk, and for the time spent on the day stewarding and encouraging the participants.

To Richard O Flynn, who came up with the idea, Barryroe GAA , members of Courtmacsherry Lifeboat Station, and crew members who manned the Lifeboat on the Day,  we offer our congratulations on a job so well done not just for the funds raised but for providing us with a memorable day in the life of the Parish of Barryroe.

Next years Great Walk will be held on August 11th 2018
